Telok Kurau Primary visit

On 23 July (last wednesday), Ms Ong and a few representatives from the marketing and programming committee made their trip to Telok Kurau Primary School!

The purpose was to explain the program and what WOW Day is all about. We also managed to invite the Principal and Vice Principal of Telok Kurau Primary to be the Guest-of-Honours for WOW Day. At the same time, the marketing committee talked about fund raising for the event and teachers were encouraged to donate a small amount for WOW Day.

The response was much better than expected and the teachers donated fervently. Due to their great deal of supportiveness, we managed to hit our fundraising target of $2000! Telok Kurau Primary's contribution was $607 altogether!

We want to express our gratitude for all the staff who gave donations, as well as giving us the chance to collaborate with them for this event.

Thank you!!

Excitement, Thrill, Anticipation.
The purpose of this event is to organize a day of fun, entertainment and activities for the members of our selected beneficiary, Telok Kurau Primary School.

Vision♥
Our Vision is to give back to society and hope that they can still have a “happily ever after” despite the unfortunate circumstance they might have met.

We chose this vision as we feel that the purpose of a “WOW” day should not have a short term effect or a moment of escape for the beneficiary but rather, to provide them hope of a brighter future.

♥ BENEFICIARY
We have chosen to support Telok Kurau Primary School for this event.

Telok Kureu Primary School has a group of underprivileged students under their care. They may not be able to enjoy these luxuries of life as we do.

We want to work with these children as they are so innocent, untouched by the vices of society. We know that we are blessed as children and we want to give back to society through this event.

These children might never get a chance to reach out to us and thus, we want to reach in to them and provide them with these valuable skills.

♥ OBJECTIVES OF WOW DAY

TELOK KURAU PRIMARY SCHOOL
1.Empower the Children with skills that learnt beyond the classroom
2.A platform for growth and an opportunity for them to open their eyes to a totally different world
3.Build up the Children’s confidence and boost their self-esteem
4.Enrich their live with the exposure of arts
5.Long lasting impacts that would benefit the Children in the future

MEDIA COVERAGE & SPONSORS
1.Show to the public that theIR companies have a heart and take social responsibility.
2.Further boosting the company’s image to the general public.

TOURISM & RESORT MANAGEMENT
1.Learn practical skills that cannot be taught in the classroom with the planning and executing of this event.
2.Working with the children in this event, we can grow as humans.
Everybody All For One
Program
The main focus of WOW Day is to empower the children with a sense of the arts involving them in the preparation of a live musical broken down into 6 different roles, all equally important in presenting a musical that will rock the house down.

After which all the skills picked up during the sessions will be applied in the musical staged by our little stars as the grand finale of the event.

Here are the brief summaries of the six stations set up to educate the children on roles that make up a musical:

Station 1
Photobucket
This is the station where the children will be transformed into young starlets of the musical after a session on integrating actions with facial expressions to produce maximum effect when up on stage.

Station 2
Photobucket
What is a musical without singing? Children will get to learn the lyrics of songs from the highly popular musical movie, High School Musical and most importantly, to sing their hearts out to enjoy the station.

Station 3
Photobucket
Ever wanted to try a particular musical instrument but just couldn’t get your hands on one because of the hefty sums required to own it? On this day, this opportunity will be given to the children to try not only one but a few types of musical instruments and learn to play a short melody for the musical.

Station 4
Photobucket
Move and groove to the music. Feel the beat and shake to the tempo. Do all these and you will be dancing in no time. In this section, children will be exposed to different dance genres such as hip hop and jazz. Hype things up by learning a dance specially choreographed by one of our dancers!

Station 5
Photobucket
This subtle art of beatification has always been overlooked by many and through this station; we hope that being able to do a good makeup is a lifelong skill that will aid the children once they step into the workforce, not to mention that stage makeup is one of the crucial elements that make up the musical characters.

Station 6
Photobucket
Here, we introduce hands on experience on creating 3D art pieces and away from the “art can only be drawn on paper” thinking that the children have. We will be teaching the children to create 1 of the stage props needed e.g. twisting unwanted newspapers into a shape of a scepter and binding it firm with masking tape etc.
